INTRODUCTION TO GOD’S HOLY FEASTS

Yahweh has set four Feasts aside, out of His seven, as special Holy convocations between Himself and His people. We are told by God to assemble for specific purposes of worship. Passover and Unleavened Bread speaks of redemption and recognizes the destroying angel passing by homes properly marked with lambs blood. Israel was put on alert to depart Egypt immediately with no time for bread with yeast to rise. Passover also marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, while unleavened bread represents the sanctification of His Celestial-body in the Resurrection. Leaven also represents corrupting evil and is forsaken throughout the week as people cleanse themselves. The second day of Unleavened Bread is called the Feast of First Fruits and is the day the Son of God arose from the grave. Christ remained with his beloved disciples for 40-days before ascending into Heaven. He commanded the Apostles to tarry in Jerusalem until His Holy Spirit joined them. Ten days later, on Pentecost, they were visited by a whirlwind and tongues of fire!

Pentecost celebrates the Holy Ghost’s Baptism of Fire and gift of tongues to the Apostles in Jerusalem when 3,000 global feast-goers were converted. It is the birthday of the New Covenant Church. It is without question that Jesus Christ fulfilled the old-covenant purpose of these Holy Days. He was the Passover Lamb so believers will be spared. When he arose, Christ guaranteed that those born-twice would die only once and could enjoy eternal life by following Him. While no man knows the time of His Second Coming, we are given to know the season.

As surely as Jesus Christ died and arose on exact Spring Feast Days corresponding to ancient promises, and God’s Holy Spirit came precisely on Pentecost, so will the Messiah return on the exact Autumn Feast Day established for the gathering of the elect, and judgement of evil.

While the Spring Feasts have been fulfilled, the Autumn Feasts await their Messianic time.

Trumpets: The Spring Feasts have been satisfied. We are now awaiting the fulfillment of the Feasts of Trumpets! The ram’s horn (Shofar) was sounded for two reasons – to call a solemn assembly when Israel was summoned to God’s presence (Ex 19:13 & Nu 10:2) – and when Israel, under divine direction, was to go to war (Joshua in conquest of Jericho; Gideon in battle with the Midianites; Nehemiah rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem). The prophets of Israel repeatedly spoke of a day when God would directly intervene in the affairs of men (Isa 13:6, Ezek 13:3, Joel 1:15, Amos 5:18, Zeph 1:14, Zech 14:1, Mal 4:5). God’s intervention is to deliver the righteous, and judge the wicked. Jesus Christ will come after the trump to defeat the Anti-Christ at Armageddon. His wrath will be poured out against the wicked. The ram’s horn is properly sounded using a long blast, three short toots, then nine staccato notes, and a final long sound. It is appropriate to read the 81st Psalm during the Feast of Trumpets.

Atonement: According to ancient Israel tradition, the Feast of Trumpets opened three-books in Heaven – the Book of Life for the Righteous, the wicked, and those in-between. People who would up-grade their status had 10 days to do so – before the Day of Atonement when the books are closed. Could it be that Christ will keep God’s Holy Feast schedule and return to claim his own at the Feast of Trumpets, then pour out his wrath on the Day of Atonement upon those who have not repented?

The week long Feast of Tabernacles will find God living within and among His people for a millennium of peace. The Last Great Day marks the second resurrection at judgement at the Great White Throne for the wicked, while God’s saints are glorified. Keep God’s Feast Days. He promises to be with us then – and forever!
